Perlane & Restylane Procedure Description:
Restylane and Perlane are both cosmetic dermal fillers that replace lost volume and restore youthful contours to the skin by smoothing away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). Restylane is the world's most used, most studied dermal filler in the world with use in over 70 countries and in more than 1.4 million treatments in the U.S.
Perlane and Restylane are both injectable gels made from a water based substance, Hyaluronic Acid, which enhances your natural looks by restoring your skin's volume, creating softness and revitalizing your appearance. Both Restylane and Perlane are ideal for filling wrinkles, soft tissue depressions and correcting facial asymmetries. Restylane is ideal for use with finer imperfections, while Perlane is used for situations requiring slightly more correction.
How Perlane & Restylane Work
Youthful skin is rich in hyaluronic acid. As we age, the distribution and function of hyaluronic acid in our skin gradually changes, leading to the characteristic signs of aging. Both Restylane and Perlane gels work by enhancing your skin's own stocks of hyaluronic acid, directly adding volume to either soften the signs of aging or enhance your features.
Either Restylane or Perlane is injected into your skin with an ultra-fine needle resulting in a plumping of the skin to smooth away wrinkles and folds. The natural water-loving nature of Perlane and Restylane attracts and binds water molecules together to help maintain volume. The entire procedure usually takes less than 30 minutes, the benefits can be seen immediately and there is little or no recovery time. The injections usually last 3-6 months, although they may last longer. No allergy testing is required.

Perlane & Restylane Downtime & Discomfort
After your treatment you might have some swelling, redness, pain and bruising. This will normally last less than seven days. Please note that in rare cases red or swollen small bumps may occur. If you have had herpes before, a Perlane or Restylane injection can cause the herpes to return. In rare circumstances the doctor may inject into a blood vessel which can damage the skin. To avoid bruising and bleeding you should not use Restylane or Perlane if you have recently used drugs that thin your blood or prevent clotting. If you are pregnant, breast feeding or under 18, you shouldn't use these products.
Perlane & Restylane FAQ:
Q: Are Restylane and Perlane natural materials?
A: The uniquely produced hyaluronic acid gel of Restylane and Perlane closely resembles natural hyaluronic acid. This reduces the risk of an inflammatory reaction or other side effects.
Q: How long do Perlane or Restylane treatments last?
A: The injections usually last 3-6 months although they may last longer. Restylane and Perlane give you flexibility and control over your looks. Because your face changes as you age, you want to avoid a permanent and perhaps artificial look that you might regret in years to come.
Q: Are Restylane and Perlane derived from animals?
A: In contrast to some other hyaluronic acid-based products, the hyaluronic acid in Restylane and Perlane are not extracted from animals. This means that there is no risk of transmitting disease or eliciting allergic reactions if you are sensitive to common foods such as chicken or eggs.
