Laser Hair Removal Description:
Laser Hair Removal is the answer for the removal of unwanted body hair. The Cynosure Apogee Laser (an Alexandrite laser) or the Cynosure Nd:YAG Laser are both hair removal lasers approved by the FDA for your permanent hair reduction needs.
There are various methods readily available for the removal of unwanted body hair: shaving, waxing, depilatory creams, etc.. However, none of these methods offer long-term hair removal. Electrolysis does offer more of a long-lasting solution, but with costly and innumerable amount of treatments that require the placement of a needle along each hair follicle, this type of laser hair removal treatment is impractical for treating large areas.
The Cynosure Apogee Laser (an Alexandrite laser) is approved by the FDA for permanent hair reduction in fair skinned individuals. The Nd:YAG is now used for darker complexions and tanned skin, as this laser significantly decreases the risks of pigment changes. Both of these lasers offers long-term hair removal for large and small areas without the difficulties and commitment involved with electrolysis.
The lasers work by destroying hair follicles that are actively growing thereby permanently reducing hair in that area at the time of treatment. At any given time some hair follicles are dormant, therefore multiple laser hair removal treatments are usually required. To date, all areas have been successfully treated with laser hair removal including the upper lip, chin, underarms, bikini lines, and larger areas such as the arms, legs and back.
Laser Hair Removal Treatment Downtime & Discomfort:
A moderate amount of discomfort can be expected depending on the area being treated. This is significantly lessened by chilled air being continuously blown over the skin surface. Topical anesthetic creams can also be used if the patient desires. There is no downtime to the laser hair removal treatment procedure and normal activities can be resumed immediately.
