Dysport, an injectable form of botulinum toxin, was FDA approved in April of 2009. Treatment causes facial wrinkles to soften or disappear. Injected under controlled conditions and in a dilute form, Dysport can eliminate frown lines, crow's feet and other facial wrinkles.

Dysport is an injectable paralytic agent which causes specific muscles to be temporarily paralyzed and wrinkles to soften or disappear for several months. Areas that can be treated include the forehead, glabellar frown lines (between the eyebrows), lateral orbital regions ("Crows Feet"), coarse lines around the mouth and certain types of banding in the neck.

The beauty of a Dysport cosmetic treatments is that it is a simple, 10-minute, non-surgical process. A few tiny Dysport injections and within days there can be a noticeable improvement in moderate to severe frown lines and it can last three to six months or even longer in some cases. Results may vary and there is no recovery time. You can even have it done on your lunch break!

Dysport Downtime & Discomfort:

The Dysport procedure is performed in the office with essentially no recovery time required. A very fine needle is used for the few Dysport injections that are usually given per muscle. Some patients report minor and temporary discomfort from the treatment. A minor burning sensation and/or a headache can sometimes follow a Dysport treatment.

A: The effects of Dysport will remain 3 to 6 months after the first injections. This may increase with subsequent treatments if done in a timely fashion.

Q: Will it paralyze other muscles?

A: No, Dysport works ONLY in the areas it is injected. It will not travel to other regions of your body.

Q: What type or anesthesia is used?

A: For most people no anesthesia is necessary. In some cases a topical anesthetic cream will be applied.
